There is an ongoing dispute on the advantages and disadvantages of penile traction devices. A new Italian study has proven that such devices increase the penis in length but there are not positive results in girth. The study was conducted by specialists from San Giovanni Battista Hospital, which is part of the University of Turin.
The new research is based on an older study that tested the positive results of extenders in the treatment of Peyronie’s disease. The researchers found that extending devices significantly improve penile curvatures.
The aim of the new research was to find out if extenders could increase the penis size or not. Fifteen men participated in the study and they were told how to use the device properly for 4 hours every day. Their penile sizes were measured at the beginning of the test and regular measurements were taken at the first, third, sixth and twelfth months.
The erectile function domain of the International Index of Erectile Function was used for baseline and final measurements. The satisfaction of the participants was determined with the help of five-item questionnaire.
Six months after the beginning of the study the researchers found significant changes in the penile length – 2,3 cm in flaccid state and 1,7 cm in stretched state. No changes in girth were notices.
At the end of the study, the results showed that there are positive effects in all items of the test, except for the penis girth.
The conclusion of the researches was that penis extenders are the devices with minimal invasion and effective results in increasing the length of the penis. However, extenders don’t increase the penile girth.
